Products - Instrumentation and Interface Systems

H Scientific have developed the following navigational instruments,
instrumentation and interface cards:
- COVELIA
- A sonar correlation velocity log which enables AUVs and other
submersibles to navigate as accurately as possible without recourse
to position fixing sensors such as GPS. The CVL may replace
the widely-used Doppler Velocity Log in many applications,
- Rate gyro
board - The use of rate gyros improves the accuracy of primary
source data including heading, roll and pitch. We have developed
a data fusion method which extracts the complementary strengths
of the rate gyro and the fluxgate compass, whilst discarding
their respective weaknesses, which provides both rate and heading
information which is optimally filtered for the purpose of the
autopilot. The datafusion algorithms are incorporated into a
PCB together with 3 rate gyro aligned to give pitch, roll and
yaw rates.
- Data
telemetry board - A telemetry system has been developed
which allows the user to remotely monitor instrumentation. This
includes digital, analogue and serial digital I / O combined
with a proprietary efficient and robust communications protocol.
- GENIE 1
and GENIE 2 modules - H Scientific
have developed a family of multiple channel analogue/digital
I/O boards. The GENIE boards connect to the PC serial port or
to a USB port and therefore can be used equally with a laptop
or desktop PC to provide external analogue and digital inputs
and outputs. Multiple boards can be daisy-chained to increase
I/O. There are two variants of the GENIE board: the GENIE
1 provides specialist features in addition to analogue/digital
I/O while the GENIE 2 is a general
purpose board with multiple high resolution analogue I/O and
digital I/O channels.
- Modem controller
- H Scientific have developed a module which explicitly
handles the handshaking between modems. This reduces the complexity
of working with modems which require hardware handshaking.
